When should you order a Christmas dress? For a custom design, order by November 1. For any Christmas dress delivered worldwide in time for the holidays, order by November 15. From November 15 to December 1, rush service is your last call. But Christmas Day is rarely the real deadline: the Christmas card photo, Santa visit or Nutcracker performance usually comes first, so count back from that date.

Your Real Deadline Isn't December 25
Write down the first day she will wear it. That's your deadline. Then order at least three weeks before it, so there's time to make it, deliver it and try it on.
Christmas card photos are usually taken in mid to late November so the cards can be printed and mailed. Order by November 1.
Santa photos start in mid-November in many malls and hotels, and the best appointments book early. Order by November 1 to 10.
The Nutcracker ballet runs from late November through December. Order by November 10.
Holiday cruises and trips need the dress before you pack. Order four weeks before you leave.
Christmas Eve and Christmas morning are the last moments. Order by November 15.

Her First Christmas: Measure Smarter
Babies grow fast. In the first six months, many grow about an inch a month, so a dress ordered in September may be tight in December. For her first Christmas, these three rules matter more than the date:
Measure her the week you order, not the month before.
