Chapter I
Why Irish Families Commission Their Communion Dress
In Ireland, First Holy Communion is one of the great days of childhood, and the dress is part of it. Many families have no wish to see the same shop dress on three girls in the same pew. They want a dress designed for their daughter, kept a secret until the morning itself.
That is why every design we make is exclusive to her for her communion year: no other girl receives the same dress. Our Irish families come to us by word of mouth, mother to mother, school gate to school gate, and many return for a younger sister, a confirmation or a christening.

How to Send Us Her Sketch or Idea
You don't need to be able to draw. Send us whatever you have on WhatsApp, and our designer turns it into a professional sketch for you to approve. The more you share, the closer the first sketch will be.
Her own drawing. Many girls draw their dream dress, and we treat it as a real design brief.
Photos and screenshots. A Pinterest board, a dress you loved on someone else, a detail from a wedding gown, a sleeve you saw in a magazine.
Something with meaning. A photo of Mum's or Granny's communion dress, or a piece of family lace you'd like worked into hers.
Her communion date and parish. So we plan the right delivery window and respect any school or church guidance on dress.
What she loves and what she doesn't. "No scratchy sleeves," "she wants to twirl," "nothing too tight at the waist": every note helps.
Chapter IV
Every Choice Is Yours
This is a true commission. Nothing is fixed. These are the decisions you'll make with our designer:
The Color
Any color she likes. Most Irish communion dresses are white or ivory, and we offer every shade between: bright white, soft white, ivory, cream, champagne and pearl. Families who want a hint of color choose blush, the palest gold or a pastel sash or embroidery. If your parish or school has a rule on color, tell us and we'll design around it.
The Fabric
Satin, silk-touch satin, organza, tulle, lace, French lace or feathers, alone or combined. Every dress is lined in our No-Itch Silk-Touch lining, so whatever is on the outside, only softness touches her skin.
The Shape
The neckline (round, square, sweetheart, high lace collar), the sleeves (long, three-quarter, short, puff, cap, lace or sleeveless with a bolero), the bodice, the skirt volume and the length: tea length, ankle length, floor length, a high-low skirt or a train. For the grandest look, a full Spanish-style communion gown with a sweeping skirt and cape.
The Details
Hand-applied flowers and roses, pearls, crystals, embroidered crosses or lilies, bows, buttons down the back, pin tucks and ruffles. Our designer will suggest what suits her design, and you approve every one.
Personalization
Her name or initials embroidered inside the dress, her communion date, a short prayer or a line from her godparents stitched into the hem. Many families add a hidden detail only she knows about: something blue, a tiny embroidered heart, or a piece of Granny's lace.
Chapter V
Add a Cape, Veil or Headpiece
Every accessory is made in the same fabrics as her dress, so the whole look matches perfectly.
A cape. Irish May mornings can be chilly. A satin, lace or velvet cape keeps her warm outside the church and looks beautiful in every photograph. It can be hooded, lined, trimmed in lace or embroidered with her initials.
A veil. Short or long, edged in lace, pearls or a satin ribbon, on a comb or headband.
A headpiece. A flower crown in the dress's own flowers, a pearl tiara, a satin headband or a halo of tiny roses.
Gloves and a bag. Matching lace or satin gloves, and a little bag for her rosary and prayer book.
Feather accessories. Our Cloud Dancer feather shawl and swan feather parasol, for families who want something unforgettable.
Chapter VI
Her Measurements, Taken Three Times
Girls grow between autumn and May, so we measure her three times. That way the dress fits on the morning itself, not just on the day it was ordered.
1. When you book, with your deposit, so we can draft her pattern.
2. In the first week of January, as the dress is being made.
3. Two weeks before shipping, for the final fitting adjustments.
How to Measure Her
Her Communion Measurements
Measure over light, fitted clothing, with her standing straight and relaxed. Keep the tape snug but not tight. Inches or centimetres are both fine.
1. Height, standing, without shoes
2. Chest, around the fullest part, under the arms
3. Waist, around her natural waist
4. Shoulder to waist, from the top of the shoulder to her natural waist
5. Shoulder to floor, in the shoes she'll wear on the day
6. Waist to floor, in the same shoes
7. Shoulder to shoulder, across the back, bone to bone
8. Upper arm, around the widest part
9. Shoulder to wrist, along the relaxed arm
10. Head circumference, for her veil or headpiece
Send them on WhatsApp, or a photo of the tape, and we'll check them with you. Tall girls and plus sizes are made to fit beautifully. There are no standard sizes.
Chapter VII
From Her Idea to Her Communion Morning
1. Tell us her idea. Send her sketch, photos, communion date and first measurements on WhatsApp.
2. Secure her window. Choose January, end of February or end of March, and place your deposit. It's credited in full toward her dress.
3. Receive her sketches. Within one week, our designer sends original sketches with a complete quote. Change anything until it's exactly right.
4. Approve the fabrics. You approve every fabric, color and detail before anything is cut.
5. Watch it being made. Her pattern is drafted from her measurements, and you approve progress photos of the bodice, skirt, sleeves and cape.
6. Final approval, then delivery. You see the finished dress before it ships, delivered to your door with duties paid.

Made for a Long, Happy Day
She'll wear it through Mass, photographs, lunch with the family and a party that runs into the evening. Every dress has our No-Itch Silk-Touch lining and is fully finished inside, with no exposed seams, no shedding glitter and no hoops, wires or glue. An adjustable lace-up back gives room to grow, so it can be worn again for a christening, a wedding or a family portrait, and kept for a younger sister. Each dress takes around 40 hours of handwork.
Chapter IX
For Families in the UK and the USA
The UK. Families in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland commission with us in exactly the same way, with the same three 2027 delivery windows, duties paid. See our made-to-measure dresses for the UK, Scotland and Ireland.
The USA. American First Communions usually fall in April and May. Choose the January or February window for April ceremonies. We design for every tradition, from classic white with a veil to grand Spanish- and Mexican-style communion gowns with full skirts and capes.
