Can Adults Wear Costumes to Disneyland? 2026-27 Rules & Where Adults Can Wear a Princess Gown

Can Adults Wear Costumes to Disneyland? 2026-27 Rules & Where Adults Can Wear a Princess Gown

Blue Cinderella princess ball gown for women, custom made in Miami

Short answer: no, not on a regular park day. At Disneyland and Walt Disney World, guests 14 and older can't wear costumes, and no outfit may drag on the ground. But there are plenty of places where adults can wear a real princess gown: Disney's Halloween parties, Disney cruises, special costume days at Tokyo Disney, and the fairytale weddings, quinceañeras and milestone birthdays our clients celebrate. Here are the 2026-27 rules, place by place, and how to have your own custom adult princess dress made.

At a Glance · Adults at Disney

Where Adult costumes? What adults wear
Disneyland & Disney World, regular days No (age 14+) DisneyBound outfits, day dresses
Oogie Boogie Bash & Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Yes, within event rules Gowns that don't touch the ground
Tokyo Disney Halloween Yes, on set costume days Full character looks
Disney Cruise Yes: Halloween & Pirate Night Ball gowns on formal night
Weddings, birthdays & quinceañeras Your celebration, your rules A custom princess gown

The Rule at Disneyland and Walt Disney World

On regular park days, Disney asks guests 14 and older not to wear costumes or masks, so no one is mistaken for an official character. The rule still applies in October. Clothing also can't reach or drag on the ground, which rules out a floor-length ball gown for a normal park day. Adults are welcome to DisneyBound instead: everyday clothes in a character's colors. Families from across the USA use our Disney dress code guide to plan every park day, and children under 14 can still wear their princess dresses all year.

Can Adults Wear Costumes to Disneyland on Halloween?

Yes, at the ticketed Halloween parties. The Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland and Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World welcome costumes for guests of every age. Each party has its own rules: nothing that drags on the ground, nothing that blocks other guests, and no posing as an official character. So a gown that floats just above the floor, or a knee-length princess dress, is ideal. Read our guide on whether adults can wear costumes to Oogie Boogie Bash and our Mommy & Me rules for Mickey's Not-So-Scary before you go.

Disney Cruise: Where Adults Dress Like Royalty

At sea the rules relax. On Halloween on the High Seas sailings, Disney Cruise Line encourages guests of all ages to dress up, and Pirate Night is a costume party for the whole ship. Formal and semi-formal nights are where a floor-length ball gown truly belongs. Our clients sail from Singapore, the UK and Florida in matching gowns. See our Disney cruise formal night guide for the full dress code.

Tokyo Disney: Costume Days for Adults

Snow White princess dress for women in red and gold

During Disney Halloween, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea set aside special days when guests 12 and older may wear full character looks. For 2026 these were September 15–30 and October 16–31, and children 11 and under can dress up all year. Guests must arrive already dressed. We ship custom gowns to Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea with duties paid. Families heading to Paris can check the Disneyland Paris rules in French, since each resort sets its own.

Weddings, Quinceañeras and Milestone Birthdays

The most beautiful princess gowns aren't worn in the parks. They're worn at the celebrations you plan yourself: a quinceañera, a sweet 16, a 30th, 40th, 50th or 60th birthday, a bridal shower, or a Disney fairytale wedding. Clients in Italy, Spain and Portugal design their gowns with us on WhatsApp, choosing every color, sleeve, lace and monogram.

After you order, we contact you on WhatsApp. Sketches within one week, delivery in 4–6 weeks, rush available.

Mommy & Me: Match Your Daughter

Most of our adult gowns are made as one half of a pair. Your daughter's dress is sewn in the same fabrics and trims, and children under 14 can wear theirs in the parks any day of the year.

Made in Miami, Delivered Worldwide

Since 2003 our Miami atelier has made every gown by hand, with a No-Itch lining, no exposed seams and an adjustable lace-up back. Each adult princess dress is cut from your own measurements (bust, waist, hips, height and shoulder-to-floor), and you approve sketches, fabrics and progress photos before it ships. Gowns travel with duties paid to Ireland and Scotland, to France and Monaco, to Switzerland and Germany, and to the Netherlands, just as they do across Europe and Asia.
