How do you order a flower girl dress from Calgary and Ballerini?

Choose a ready design, pick the size bracket closest to her age, and type her five measurements in the Notes box at checkout. We handmake it to those measurements and ship it in 7 to 10 business days. For a one-of-a-kind gown, message us on WhatsApp to start a custom commission.

Ordering a ready design (7 to 10 business days)

1. Choose the dress from the collection above.
2. Choose the size bracket closest to her age: 6–12 months, 12–18 months, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8.
3. Write her five measurements in the Notes box at checkout (shoulder to floor, chest, waist, shoulder to waist, waist to knee). See how to measure below.
4. We handmake it to her measurements, with a matching artisan hair accessory, and ship by tracked DHL Express with duties prepaid.

Ordering a custom made flower girl dress (4 to 6 weeks)

1. Tell us the wedding: the date, her age, the bride's gown and colors, and any inspiration photos.
2. Sketches within one week. Our design team sends original sketches. Change anything until it is exactly right.
3. Approve the exact fabrics and colors before anything is cut.
4. Her pattern is drafted from her five measurements.
5. Follow the making in photographs, approving the bodice, then the skirt, then the finishing.
6. Give your final approval of the finished gown before it ships.

When should you order a flower girl dress?

Order a custom made flower girl dress 10 to 12 weeks before the wedding, and a ready design at least 4 weeks before. That covers sketches, making, shipping and time to try it on. Rush service is available for closer dates.

How do you measure for a flower girl dress?

Take five measurements with a soft tape while she stands straight in light clothing: shoulder to floor, chest, waist, shoulder to waist, and waist to knee. Keep the tape snug but not tight. We cut her gown from these, never from a size chart.

1. Shoulder to floor: from the top of the shoulder, where a strap sits, straight down to the floor, without shoes.
2. Chest: around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms.
3. Waist: around her natural waist, the narrowest point.
4. Shoulder to waist: from the top of the shoulder down to the natural waist.
5. Waist to knee: from the natural waist to the center of the knee.

What size flower girl dress for a 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 year old?

Choose the size bracket closest to her age, then add her five measurements so the gown is made to her body. Heights vary a lot at the same age, which is why shoulder-to-floor matters more than the size label.

Typical heights are general growth averages, shown as a guide only. Her gown is always cut from her own measurements.

How much does a flower girl dress cost?

Most store-bought flower girl dresses cost $50 to $300; luxury and couture flower girl dresses cost $500 to $1,500 or more. Our ready designs are $699 to $3,000, and custom made flower girl dresses start at $899.

Who pays for the flower girl dress?

Traditionally, the flower girl's parents pay for her dress, and the bride chooses the style. Many brides now gift the dress, especially when they want a custom gown that matches the wedding exactly.

If you are the bride, send us your gown and colors and we can design the dress, then the parents can order it with their daughter's measurements. If several girls are walking, each dress is made to each girl's own measurements.

Can you get a flower girl dress in time for the wedding date?

Many luxury flower girl dresses are made overseas in 6 to 8 weeks and shipped through a warehouse before they reach you. Ours are made in Miami and shipped directly to your door.

What color should flower girl dresses be? White or ivory?

What age should a flower girl be?

Flower girls are usually 3 to 8 years old, and can be anywhere from 2 to 12. Girls from about 9 to 14 are often called junior bridesmaids.

Babies and toddlers can be pulled in a wagon or carried. We make flower girl dresses from 6 months to 12 years, so sisters of every age can match.

What should a flower girl wear to a winter or destination wedding?

For winter, add long lace sleeves or a matching cape; for a beach or destination wedding, choose knee or tea length in light tulle. We ship to the destination with duties prepaid.

Will the flower girl dress need alterations?

Almost never. Fewer than 1 in 400 of our gowns has ever needed an adjustment, because each one is cut from her own measurements. An adjustable lace-up back gives room if she grows before the wedding.

Where do you ship, and are there customs fees?

We ship flower girl dresses to 85 countries by tracked DHL Express, with all duties and taxes prepaid, so there is nothing to pay at the door.

What do you do with the flower girl dress after the wedding?

Wear it again for her birthday, First Communion or family portraits, then keep it as an heirloom. Store it in a breathable cotton garment bag, never plastic, away from sunlight.

Spot clean gently and take it to a professional cleaner experienced with tulle and feathers. Never machine wash a feather gown. Many families have the dress made with room in the lace-up back so she wears it all year.
