What size party dress does my daughter need? Choose the size closest to her age from the chart below, then send her own measurements. We cut the pattern from her body, so a tall and a petite girl of the same age each get a dress that fits exactly.

From our own size chart. For a knee-length party dress, waist to knee is about 15.5 in / 39 cm at size 5, 16 in / 41 cm at size 6 and 18.5 in / 47 cm at size 7.

How to measure her, in 9 steps

Measure over light, fitted clothing, with her standing straight and relaxed, no shoes. Keep the tape snug but not tight. Inches or centimeters are both fine.

1. Shoulder to floor: from the top of the shoulder straight down to the floor.
2. Chest: around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms.
3. Waist: around her natural waist, at the belly button.
4. Shoulder to waist: from the top of the shoulder to her natural waist.
5. Waist to floor: from her natural waist to the floor.
6. Shoulder to shoulder: across the back, bone to bone.
7. Arm: around the widest part of the upper arm.
8. Shoulder to wrist: down the relaxed arm to the wrist bone.
9. Shoulder to fingertip: down the relaxed arm to the tip of the middle finger.

5. Follow the making through photos, approving the bodice, skirt and finishing.
